CMJ chief executive has described the awards as the highest accolade.
The Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) has announced its shortlist for its annual CMJ Supplier of the Year and Retailer of the Year awards, which will take place during its UK Jewellery Conference in Birmingham this month.   The awards are nominated by CMJ members, with retailers voting for the Supplier of the Year and suppliers steering the Retailer of the Year. The CMJ said that each business shortlisted has been chosen because of "their outstanding business over the past 12 months and their investment and business growth".   While the shortlist has been set, the gongs are still up for grabs as voting for the winners won't take place until the first day of the UK Jewellery Conference, which will open on October 8th at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole.
CMJ members will be able to place their votes throughout the day and the winners will then be announced that evening at ceremony during dinner.   CMJ chief executive Willie Hamilton said: “These are the only awards that are completely based on votes cast by the people who really matter and who know the UK jewellery industry best – those who deal with these businesses as customers or suppliers on a daily basis.   "No amount of good presentation skills or skilful PR can pull the wool over the eyes of those who are voting from the sharp end of the industry. As a result, these annual CMJ Awards should be considered the very highest accolade.”   THE CMJ AWARDS 2013 SHORTLIST   Supplier of the Year Bering Brown & Newirth Citizen Clogau Curteis Diamonfire Domino Gecko Gemex Hot Diamonds Seiko Shaun Leane   Retailer of the Year Allum & Sidaway David Christopher Fish Brothers/Charles Fish Green + Benz Jeremy France Matthew Stephens SWAG TH Baker Wakefields Wongs
