For Henry and George Curteis, the past 12 months have seen successes both in and out of business. Their jewellery manufacturing company, Curteis Ltd, has seen continued expansion in London, which is an achievement that George is particularly proud of. “Providing a reliable and high-quality supply of chains and jewellery-making services to the capital’s jewellers has been incredibly satisfying,” he says, “and this year we’ve been able to bring our dedication and service to a wide range of new customers, which we’re very pleased about.” Henry-and-George-Curteis  The duo have also been looking further afield, however, and have commenced marketing and selling in India, offering the country’s exporters a service to rival Dubai and Singapore. “We are also producing 22 carat for the first time – a development that follows on from our launch into manufacturing platinum chains last year, along with high-palladium white golds, which melt at a higher point than yellow golds,” Henry adds. But the past year has also seen the completion of major renovation work at the Curteis family home. “It is wonderful to see the house in such great shape. We no longer live there, but it is still the soul of the family – our ancestors acquired the place way back in 925 AD!” Henry enthuses. Indeed, the Curteis business, located a quarter of a mile away, was originally founded as a means of supporting the house and its 10 acres of lawns, lakes and woodland. “That a company founded in the attic here at Plas Yolyn still manufactures in the UK, still employs 100 people and still commits to making the best quality items is, I believe, something to be truly cherished,” says George.
