Over the last two days we have hosted a meeting with our UK and Ireland sales force. These meetings are a good opportunity for the office to get feedback and for the company to update everyone on our plans.
Although it is pleasing to see customers placing more orders via the website, never forget that we have a national sales force in both countries and we are always willing to pay you a visit to show you our products, particularly our newer ranges. If you haven't seen a Curteis sales man or lady for a while or ever, please let us know and we will contact you to arrange a visit!

Hallmarking Volumes Down Again
The continuing increase in metal prices has impacted on fine jewellery sales during 2010. Following the publication of figures from the UK Assay Office today, (Tuesday 18th January), Hallmarking volumes through the four UK Assay Offices were at their lowest since 1974 at a total of 14.8 million units, nearly 8% down on 2009.
For the second year running more silver articles were struck than gold, representing 58% of the total. Gold volumes were only 5.8 million, nearly 17% down on 2009 and 45% down on 2008! Platinum fared better, 1% up on 2009 and silver dropped by only 1.7%.
The good part of the story is the potential for recovery when the situation turns. Gold hasn't been charging quite as strongly of late. Maybe the turn is near!
