We would like to congratulate Andrew Gordon one our sales representatives, who recently completed the St Kilda sailing challenge. Well done Andrew!

The event was a sailing challenge from Oban on the West Coast to St kilda, a world heritage island 60 miles west of the Outer Hebrides.  We sailed from Oban in Monday 26th August and set sail for St kilda. We arrived at St kilda on Wednesday morning at 1.30am!

We went ashore and visited the village on the main island, which was evacuated in 1930 when the last residents found life unsustainable.

We left St kilda and sailed north up the West Side of the Hebrides and our next stop was stornway on the isle of Lewis. Leaving Stornaway we sailed to Tobermory on the isle of Mull before returning to Oban on Sunday 1st September. There were eighteen of us on board Alba Explorer a 72-foot yacht that was that was originally built for circumnavigating the world.

We covered 507 miles and encountered force 10 gales ripped one of our sails!

We raised just under £20,000 for the Ocean Youth Trust who take young people on sailing adventures. We also take disabled young people, recently taking a group of blind and partially sighted children sailing.
